Lynn LaLonde Allen
Lynn LaLonde Allen has practiced art and design since childhood, when her mother, who was also an artist, cultivated interest in art museums and “playing” with paint at a very young age.
Lynn was formally trained at California Polytechnic University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Art and minoring in Art History. She furthered her skills earning a BFA in Advertising Design from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena. Along the way, she has continued her education with many renowned teachers from the San Francisco Art Institute, The Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada, OTIS College of Art and Design and the Palos Verdes Art Center.
After completing her undergraduate education, she was encouraged and motivated to find a creative career. She went on to work for over fifteen years in advertising agencies and publishing companies as art director and creative director. This experience formed the way she tackles creative challenges which often includes graphic tools and manipulation of images. Inspired by Abstract Expressionism and the Bay Area Figurative Movement, her work usually begins as one of her own photographs or scrap she has gathered, photocopied or electronically altered in some way. Much of her subject matter involves portraits, people on the street or landscapes she has captured or brought to life from imagination. In whatever work she does, her emphasis is on juxtaposition of layered texture and bold colors in a graphic composition.
Currently, she is able to focus on painting and creating multi-media images while residing in Long Beach, California. She has two sons attending college.
Lynn has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and businesses, and is building an extensive list of private and corporate collectors.
